Winterize Outboard How Do You Winterize An Outboard Motor?

How do you winterize an outboard motor? - winterize outboard

I recently inherited an old boat with an outboard motor. What I do not for the winter?

I want to carry fresh water if salt water, add a download engine to allow the gas to drain from carbohydrates and flush the cooling system.

Add some fuel stabilizer in the tank before the last race of the year. I like sea foam, I let it all year round in all my boats.

Start the engine without pulling the fuel line. Do this before you water.

Once out of the water, let the engine and let it all out of the water.

Drain the fat from the lower unit, and fill with gear oil. Remember to check out whether your plugs with Teflon seals are just a little about them before then fitted in the lower unit. Tip: Turn the screw hole in the head before the tube lubricant, this lubricant to keep all the drainage, before heading back to the lower bolts.

Remove spark plugs and fog cylinders. Turn off the engine once or twice, the distribution of oil mist.

Disconnect the battery and give a full charge.

It depends on whether it was a stroke 2 to 4 times .... 2-stroke engines require that you run a solution through the spray engine oil and change the lower unit. 4-stroke engine oil change, oil from the lower unit, carry out spray solution, if it's carburetor, change all filters and make sure that after you run it completely before the engine in place. If the engine can be maintained throughout the winter.

Operation of the motor housing has stabilized after the fuel for fifteen minutes. Then to stop the storage of spray sealant into the air filter the engine. Motor oil and lower unit. At least twice, and then simply changed the oil in the lower unit. Let's cut the engine top to bottom.
Next year we Can a field to go eather to start the engine by spraying into the air intake is normal.

1.Flush the engine with fresh water. For this use of color sleeves or a similar device for collecting the raw water.
2.Wait until the water flows from the engine.
3.Wash with soapy water and rinse well.
4.Disconnect fuel hose and run engine until it stops.
5.Make sure that all fuel exhausted from the carburetor so that evaporated fuel does not collect deposits.
6.Use mist to lubricate the cylinder walls and pistons.
7.Use waterproof grease on the propeller shaft and threads.
8.Change gear in the bottom.
9.Slightly lubricate the outside of the engine or polish with wax well.
